Dopo tanta attesa sono finalmente riuscito a sfornare una nuova versione del mio downloads manager 1.0 beta. Ancora in beta, ma la maggior parte delle funzioni sono attive. Se non siete esperti non consiglio di installare questa versione .Ecco qualche screenshoot (clicca per ingrandire le immagini).

Advise: Downloads Manager has been updated to svn version!
Purtroppo non mi è stato possibile scrivere uno script per aggiornare dalla vecchia versione a quella nuova, quindi dovreste fare manualmente il trasferimento dei download verso il nuovo plugin
Installazione
Caricare la directory “downloads-manager” nella directory dei plugin di wordpress (/wp-content/plugins/), e attivalo dalla pagina di gestione plugin
Utilizzo
Appena entrato nel pannello di amministrazioni di wordpress cerca e clicca la voce Downloads Manager o Gestore Download
Supporto
Presto scriverò una documentazione completa sul plugin. Intanto se il plugin ti è piaciuto e vuoi offrirmi una birra puoi fare una donazione simbolica.

Downloads
Per ottenere il downloads manager potete scegliere due modi: Se siete utenti esperti ed avete abbastanza dimestichezza con il programma subversion potete scaricare la versione svn (sempre aggiornata) con il comando:
svn co http://svn.wp-plugins.org/downloads-manager/trunk tua-dir
Altrimenti potete scaricare la prima versione della beta che verrà aggiornata meno frequentemente rispetto la svn, ma sarà più stabile

Vorrei suggerirti un paio di cose perchè è bello vedere plugin scritti da italiani.
Scrivi prima in Inglese e poi in italiano questo articolo.

Secondo me ci deve essere un piccolo bug nel conteggio.
Ho installato il plugin ho cambaito il codice per il download negli articoli dove avevo il download e ho fatto un download di prova per tutti i 3 file.
Mi ha detto subito 1 download e poi se clikko ancora nel pannello di controllo mi ha detto 2 download e poi 3 download e li si è stabilizzato
dubito che in ochi minuti altre 2 persone abbiano contemporaneamente salvato i tre files :–)

ti ringrazio molto per i preziosi suggerimenti. Posso dirti che sto ancora sviluppando il plugin ma quel bug finora non l’ho mai incontrato. Per sicurezza ho reso la pagina download.php non raggiungibile dagli spider tramite robots.txt , potevano essere anche quelli 
. Se guardi il mio blog nella pagina Downloads puoi vedere che ho sviluppato una pagina dinamica che prende i download e li ordina per categoria. Ciao e grazie ancora!

Ciao Giulio,
il tuo plugin è molto carino, ma credo di aver trovato un bug: se effettuo l’upload di files il cui nome è separato da spazi, ad esempio “uno due.tre”, il file è correttamente uploadato, ma non si riesce a scaricare.
Ho notato che viene (come è giusto) messo sul server con gli spazi.
Sempre con gli spazi viene inserito nella tavola MySQL “wp_download” nel campo “files”, dove se ho capito bene dovrebbe essere l’indirizzo.
Se è così, bisogna fare in modo che in quel campo MySQL gli spazi nel nome siano sostituiti dal codice %20
Ho provato a cambiare il campo a mano, ora nella finestra del DOWNLOADS MANAGER mi da “correct link” invece di “broken link”, tuttavia non mi fa comunque scaricare…

piccola update: sono passato a wordpress 2.0.6, eliminando un fastidioso bug della 2.0.5
confermo tutto quanto detto sopra, ad eccezione di un fatto: andando ad eseguire un edit nel database, mi permette di scaricare i files.
quindi la soluzione al bug è: nel database gli indirizzi devono essere scritti con %20 al posto degli spazi.

Ciao nicola ti ringrazio per questa tua segnalazione. Personalmente non ho tenuto in considerazione la cosa perchè ho avuto sempre l’abitudine di non usare gli spazi lavorando sul web. Correggerò il problema appena avrò qualche minuto di tempo nei prossimi giorni, non è una modifica difficilissima, basta un semplic str_replace. Ciao e grazie ancora

YOur plugin is work great! But I have a problem: in the Downloads Manger panel (in Wordpress/Plugins) I added my download link…
Label called: iso_mod
URL: I typed/made correctly without any spaces in it.
Password: 0
Download Count: 0 (default).
But i get the errorm when i tried to download it: broken link…
I’m using wordpress 2.0.5? This could be the problem? Update it to 2.1?

Hello,
First, thanks for your work.
I tried your plugin, but I had a javascript error in the ‘admin/plugins/dowloads_manager’ section. I found and correct the problem. It was the hidden field ‘delete’ (never use that kind of name/id for your own fields, you are in conflicts with inside fucntions or else) that I changed to ‘delete_id’ in all the places you used it and now it works great. (I’m working with FF).
So.. Really nice job.

hello… nice job… I would recommend a change in your check_brokenlink() routine… more and more hosts are disabling fopen() due to security risks… and there is much simpler way in php to check for file existence:

ciao giulio, complimenti per il plugin che ho prontamente utilizzato nel mio blog, ti segnalo l’errore che sembra di javascript che si genera cliccando nella pagina amministrazione di download manager sui link edit o delete con il browser IE, tutto ok invece utilizzando il grande FF.
leggo che stai lavorando ad una nuova versione per correggere bug, in bocca al lupo ed ancora grazie

Ciao..interessante il tuo plugin. L’ho installato ma ho riscontrato un problema. Se inserisco il link di un file hostato altrove invece che sulla directory predefinita “upload” del plugin, quando vado a cliccare sul file per scaricarlo, si apre una nuova finestra e comincia a scaricare il file in formato “testuale”….il prob è che è un video.. :(( Hai suggerimenti? Ti do il link della mia sezione downloads cosi puoi verificare anche tu quello che dico.. Grazie Sezione Downloads

Ciao ho un po’ di suggerimenti da darti. visto che sono non vedente ho dei problemi con i link così come sono, ossia, ci hai messo soltanto “download” come link, secondo me è inutile e poco pratico, piuttosto metti il nome del file linkato e cliccabile, così che uno sa cosa scarica anche navigandoci solo col tab, anzi, secondo me sarebbe ancora + forte metterci un titolo. Titolo del file, descrizione del file, poi dimensione e contatore di click. Poi eventualmente la possibilità di stabilire tramite amministrazione se il download è accessibile al pubblico o solo agli utenti registrati o a utenti di questo o quel livello. Poi, non lo so perché ancora non lo ho installato e sinceramente fin che c’è questa struttura con il titolo non linkato e solo il link “download” non lo metto di sicuro… non so se si può inserire una categoria di download per pagina, per esempio nella pagina “suonerie” si possa inserire solo la categoria di download “suonerie”. In pratica quello che volevo io era levare il link “download” mettendo cliccabile il nome del file o un eventuale titolo (che pure sarebbe meglio) e un’altra cosa che non ho compreso è se si può inserire come download un URL esterno o se per forza bisogna caricare i file tramite l’apposita form di upload. Talksina..io ho provato ad introdurre un link esterno, e la cosa funziona! solo che ho riscontrato un problema se faccio il download da FireFox. Invece da Internet Explorer nessun problema: appare la finestrina per il download e tutto funziona.. Sto aspettando delucidazioni da Giulio..

Il problema è tutto il resto, soprattutto quella questione dei nomi file non cliccabili, mettendo come cliccabile il bottone “download” (che appunto non servirebbe, qualora il nome del file fosse cliccabile come link)
anzi + elegante ancora sarebbe se ci fosse la possibilità di mettere un titolo, così che per esempio se hai messo su il programma “a dark deadly path” (per fare audiogame) anziché avere da cliccare su un link che si chiama “addp.zip” clicchi su uno che si chiama “a dark deadly path” e ti scarica addp.zip, poi sulla colonna a destra, la descrizione che ci puoi mettere “a dark deadly path - programma per realizzare giochi audio con storie interattive” o qualcosa di simile
poi la questione della protezione, non ho capito bene se è possibile proteggere i dl con una password e basta, o se metterli anche per utenti pubblici o registrati

grazie per il tuo lavoro. Ho problemi con il tuo plugin, infatti uplodando il file utilizzando la tua applicazione o tramite FTP, il link risulta sempre broken…
Ho rinominato il file in tutti i modi naturalmente senza lasciare spazi quindi non riesco a capire.

Intanto posso elencare alcune feature che ho inserito granzie anche ai vostri feedback:
- Si potranno commentare i downloads
- Si potrà aggiungere una descrizione del download
- Verrà Aggiunta la possibilità di far scaricare alcuni file solo agli utenti registrati
- I file protetti vengono criptati
Il plugin funzionerà con versioni di php pari o superiori alla 5

I applied your great plugin, but it stubbornly refuses to show the file size in a word press site, while it shows the file size perfectly accurate in the admin section. since you used the same variable in the php code the same time i really don’t get the problem. maybe you can help me out. thanks a lot!

Caro Giulio, è presente (o puoi prevedere di abilitare) la funzione che consenta di far scaricare determinati file solo a precisi utenti? Non solo, la pagina download dovrebbe visualizzare solo i file relativi all’utente loggato in quel momento.

Correggo il mio precedente post: almeno per l’installazione in locale, è necessario modificare il dm_plugin_path nel plugin, aggiungendo anche la cartella nella quale è installato wordpress.

Ciao Giovanna, per adesso ho un po abbandonato il prgetto, per mancanza di tempo. Ho una versione con molte più funzioni, ma molto instabile e non mi sembra ancora il caso di renderla disponibile al download altrimenti sarei sommerso di email di protesta

Ho un problema; nella pagina di Gestione Download compare questa stringa:

Creo le categorie ma poi nell’elenco a tendina in Carica File non sono presenti quindi non posso inserire nessun file.

mi sembra di aver fatto tutto giusto..
ho attivato il plugin , ho creato il download , prendendo l’url del file dal mio server, ho messo l’embed in un mio post..
ma premendo sul file per effettuare il download .. mi da errore ..

i activated the plugin and uploaded files without problems although i had to change the chmod of the upload folder to 777. However if I want to embed a download in my post the content of the post disappears! I get an empty post. Same problem with pages using : there again - it results in a completely blank page!
What am I doing wrong?

thank you for the new Version - i`ll try two dm slugs in one post later.. and hope it works now, would be great. I recognize, it even tries to get the filesize if the download link is just an url.. maybe it should check, if its an file or an url.. so it doesn`t print errors like:

Ok, two dm`s in one post isn`t working right now, it seems it only catch the id from the first dm and shows it in the second dm slug (download), too..?
I´ve added an link field for me, too, so that i can enter direct links again

I had in my plan the possibilty to choose from links and uploads but I had to abort because You can’t get filesize from remote links if you haven’t php5 at least. A lot of people already use php4 and my plugin won’t work. I know it would be great add downloads from link but the only way is make a copy of the file and put it into the uploads directory. Thanks for all Lazy!

Yes, of course, you can.. but my link hack is really simple and no big deal, i`m sure, you can do it better..
I`ve just made a (new) field in add download and gave it the id dm_link and name dm_link.. and if i had to update a download i made the same and both seems to work.
The Filesize.. i know.. i`ve deleted the function because of lazyness.. but maybe it would be an idea to check the file back with a function.. e.g. the filetype.. if its rar, zip, ace, exe, count filesize, if its php, html, cgi, asp.. dont show filesize.. ?
Maybe you can have a look at the new media uploader / libary from Wordpress 2.5 Trunk, and use some functions of it, too? I`m not really a php geek.. just the things i`ve learnt in all the years..
by the way.. you`re italian, aren`t you? from where?

Man… I don’t know how.. but… I’ve found the solution to get filesize from remote file (it works) and fixed bug of 2 [dm] tag into post. Am I going crazy? It really works! I’ve seen the light!

May I remove description from the main table (you can always edit clicking on edit button).
It would be easier if (link is a file) then show filesize else do show nothing, wouldn’t it?
Edit screen doesn’t exists anymore? Do you mean this?

hm..strange.. got firefox (ok 3.0..) and it jumps to below but theres no edit screen anymore..mh ok tested again, it works, maybe cache faults or something like that.. forget about that, sorry
in my opinion you can remove description completly from the overview.. and resize the file icons a little bit so that every line gets smaller and the users got a better overview..?
you`re right, would be the best with filesize!

they are from mod_security, aren`t they? maybe its related on mod security (settings) that the download urls (permalinks) won`t work..? or do you use something like wp cache or wp super cache? then you must clear cache after aktivating download manager again.. thats how it works on my blog

I really like the plugin so far! I have been looking for something like this forever. Can you make the option to either have a custom icon or the ability to use larger images in the icon folder to select from? Also, how would I display all of the downloads categorized?

I figured out the icon file size and how to create custom ones.. It sounds like you are looking for suggestions for the release version. Here are a few that would be great.
Tags: ability to add tags to files.
Mouse overs: a long description if yo umouse over the image.
